Week 3 Learning Reflection

The moment that I was most engaged with the learning this week was ‘listening’ to Edgar Allan Poe works. I have always loved Poe’s work, and associate it with my love for all genres of horror (movies, books/novels, themes, etc.) I love reading and am a very visual person, but I really enjoyed listening to the works; ‘The Black Cat’, ‘Tell Tale Heart’, and ‘The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar’, the latter I’d never read, though familiar with the title. I really enjoyed them.

I felt most distant from the class the first day I actually attended, because I thought I was really behind and would have issues following the course of the discussion. Fortunately, Prof. Brandon’s lecture was easy to follow and though profession, very informal, which really allowed me the opportunity to relax and enjoy the class.

The culprit of the action that puzzled, confused and terrified me was the internet. I was attempting to do my work one evening and was not allowed to do so, as the site wouldn't load and refused to do so all night well into the next day. Fortunately enough, I was informed in class the next morning that I was not the only person with issues and that I wouldn’t be penalized for the late work. Whew. In addition to that, I was given a remedy for the problem if I encountered it again.

The only thing that I’m surprised about is that HB has all of my favorite Poe stories, as well as, ‘besties1’ of other great writers.

(1) besties- another term for favorites and bests.
